Spring decorating tips

Susan Swanson, Interior Designer and owner of The Green Door in East Greenwich, RI, loves Women Centric design.  She shared a few insights for decorating your home for Spring…

“Spring makes everyone happy! It’s such a wonderful time of renewal for the earth, ourselves and our surroundings. Everything is brighter. I love bringing the beautiful fresh greens, corals, blues, pinks and yellows from outside, inside the home for refreshing new looks.”

Here are three areas of your home Susan suggests transitioning with the season, both inside & outside!

Your front door is the gateway to the world…
Nothing gives more curb appeal to your home than a beautiful floral wreath or basket on your front door. I’ve made thousands of baskets over the years and I love giving each one its own special personality.

Nothing is as welcoming or cozy as your fireplace…
One of the most important and over-looked focal points in a home is the fireplace mantle. Setting the stage for each season can be as easy as changing the 2 flanking Spring pussy willow arrangements on this mantle with twin summer florals, then 2 fall ones followed by matching holiday ideas.

Fresh pop of color…
Accent pillows are a great way to punch up a piece of furniture and quickly change the mood of the room for the season. I like surprises like a beautiful sea-side pattern on a very traditional chair.
